Terms
What you can expect from Ymotion, and what it expects from you.
Last updated 6 September 2026
The short version
You upload a clip, Ymotion transcribes it and captions it, and you export the result. Your videos stay yours. Pay for what you use, do not upload things you have no right to, and we will keep the service running as well as we can.
Your account
You need an account to caption anything, and you need to be old enough to enter into a contract where you live. Keep your password to yourself: what happens on your account is treated as yours.
Your videos are yours
Uploading a clip does not give us any ownership of it. You give us permission to store it, transcribe it, caption it and hand it back to you, which is what running the service consists of, and to pass the parts described on the privacy page to the companies listed there. That permission ends when you delete the file.
We do not use your videos to train anything, and we do not show them to anyone.
What you may not upload
Anything you do not have the rights to, anything unlawful, and anything that exists to harass or endanger somebody. We do not read through people's projects, so this runs on trust, and an account that breaks it can be closed.
Videos, plans and payment
A video is counted when the captioning finishes and the project opens in the editor. Work that fails on our side is not counted, and if it is counted by mistake it is given back.
- Free. No charge, unlimited videos. Exports carry a small Ymotion mark in the corner of the frame. Your first 3 exports may be taken without it, chosen one at a time; those 3 are a one-off and do not come back. Exporting with the mark never uses one.
- Pro. $19 a month, with unlimited videos and no mark on any export. Everything else is the same on both plans.
- Creator pack. $9.99 for 20 videos. We no longer sell this. One that was already bought stays yours until you spend it and does not expire.
“Unlimited” means we do not sell you a quantity and we do not meter what you make. There are fair-use limits each day — one on captioning and one on exporting — to stop automated abuse. They are set well above normal use, we do not publish the numbers, and we may change them. If you reach one, that part pauses until the next day; nothing you have already made is affected, and files you have already exported stay yours.
Payment is taken by Stripe. A subscription renews until you cancel it, which you can do at any time from your account; it then runs to the end of the period you have paid for. We do not refund part of a period or videos you have already made, but if something went wrong, write to us and we will sort it out.
Prices can change. If one you are paying changes, you will hear about it before it is charged.
Limits
- A clip can be up to 5 minutes long.
- Storage is 1 GB on Free and 6 GB on Pro. Deleting clips you have finished with frees it up again.
- Automated or bulk use, and anything that goes at the service rather than through it, is not allowed.
What we do not promise
Ymotion is provided as it is. We work hard on it, but we cannot promise it will never be down, never lose a frame, or transcribe every accent perfectly. Keep your own copy of anything you would be sorry to lose.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the problem.
Ending it
You can stop using Ymotion and delete your account whenever you like. We can close an account that breaks these terms, or that is being used to harm somebody, and we will say why unless saying so would make things worse.
Changes
If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them, and a change that actually affects you gets an email as well. Carrying on using Ymotion after that is how you accept it.
